Our Client is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer for a 1-year contract opportunity located in Oakville, ON. Targeted to start in late September 2026, this position operates on a standard morning shift schedule. In this full-stack engineering role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable enterprise software applications that directly support customer workflows.
...
This role requires a versatile Full-Stack Software Engineer with a deep technical foundation across the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC). Operating at an Engineer 3 tier, you will architect system interfaces, write clean code for both front-end user interfaces and back-end microservices, and deploy high-availability solutions. You will collaborate closely with product owners, UI/UX designers, and enterprise architects to evaluate technical requirements, determine optimal technology stacks, and execute test-driven, automated delivery pipelines.
Advantages
End-to-End Delivery Scope: Direct ownership across the complete software stack—from user-centric UI components down to server-side microservices and database integrations.
Modern SDLC Practices: Work within a mature engineering ecosystem utilizing Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), and cloud-native architecture patterns.
Cross-Functional Influence: Collaborate directly with product owners, designers, and system architects to evaluate technology stacks and define architectural standards.
Responsibilities
1. Full-Stack Architecture & Feature Development
Develop, enhance, and maintain responsive front-end user interfaces (UI) and interactive web applications.
Design, build, and optimize backend applications, microservices, and restful APIs using server-side languages.
Create high-level software architecture designs outlining application structure, module dependencies, data models, and API interfaces.
Assess business requirements to select suitable technology stacks, integration methods, and deployment strategies for new digital services.
2. Quality Engineering & Test Automation
Define and execute comprehensive software test strategies, guidelines, and quality policies aligned with enterprise standards.
Implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies, automated testing frameworks, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Monitor, optimize, and refactor applications to resolve performance bottlenecks and improve overall operational efficiency.
3. Security, Compliance & User Empathy
Incorporate robust software security practices to safeguard customer data, including data encryption and anonymization protocols.
Engage directly with business stakeholders and end-users to understand pain points, translating complex requirements into intuitive software features.
Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and new stack layers to maximize development velocity and product reliability.
Qualifications
Core Experience & Education
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
IT Tenure: 6+ years of broad IT experience with a minimum of 4+ years dedicated specifically to hands-on software development.
Language Proficiency: Demonstrated practical experience in 2 coding languages OR advanced practice in 1 core language.
Technical Skillset Matrix
Front-End / UI: Proven track record creating user-friendly, responsive, and interactive user interfaces using modern web frameworks.
Back-End Engineering: Hands-on experience developing and maintaining server-side applications, microservices architectures, and RESTful APIs.
Preferred Skill: Strong experience in Java (Spring Boot ecosystem) or equivalent object-oriented back-end languages is preferred.
Development Methodologies: Deep understanding of Agile development cadences, TDD, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and version control (Git).
Security & Optimization: Exposure to web application security (OAuth, encryption standards, data masking) and performance tuning techniques.
