Responsibilities
• Perform high-precision manual hand soldering and delicate rework of surface-mount technology (SMT) and through-hole components on complex printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA).
• Operate de-soldering stations, hot air rework guns, micro-soldering irons, and hand tools to remove, replace, or repair intricate electronic components safely.
• Execute manual component preparation, lead forming, precision component placement, and installation on printed circuit boards according to production schedules.
• Conduct thorough in-process optical inspections and touch-ups on SMT and through-hole assemblies utilizing stereo microscopes and optical magnifiers.
• Read and interpret electronic assembly blueprints, schematics, bills of materials (BOM), and standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure exact specifications are met.
• Package finished electronic products, sub-assemblies, and materials securely for shipment or transfer, ensuring proper labeling and ESD protection.
• Perform real-time quality checks to identify soldering defects, such as solder bridges, cold joints, or component misalignment, and perform immediate correction.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-compliant workstation while strictly adhering to occupational health and safety standards in the manufacturing & logistics environment.
• Communicate effectively with production leads, quality assurance inspectors, and manufacturing engineers to resolve assembly challenges promptly.
• Assist with general production tasks, hardware installation, and operational assembly support as assigned by supervisors in the manufacturing & logistics division.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in electronic assembly or dedicated hand soldering in a manufacturing environment.
• Post-secondary diploma or academic background in Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline (Canadian educational credentials are a strong asset).
• Demonstrated expertise in SMT rework using de-soldering tools, hot air guns, and microscopic inspection equipment.
• Full availability to work the full-time afternoon shift (4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday to Friday) in Markham, ON.
• Strong team player with a positive "can-do" attitude and the ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
• Capability to perform fine detail work, sit for extended periods, and handle delicate electronic components safely.
