Responsibilities
Provide overarching direction and mentorship to Managers, Foremen, and Lead Hands concerning all aspects of HSE.
Champion quality and HSE excellence, driving performance enhancements across the entire organization.
Collaborate with the Corporate HSE Manager to administer our client's training programs for quality and safety, ensuring compliance with legal mandates and relevant site standards.
Ensure adherence to national and global regulatory standards and laws as required.
Maintain all documentation and controls associated with the Health and Safety Management System.
Oversee the upkeep of all corporate registrations, certifications, and achievements, while also monitoring and ensuring compliance with all customer HSE qualification requirements (e.g., COR Certifications, ISNetworld, Avetta, ComplyWorks).
Serve as the key liaison with all regulatory and governing bodies concerning the company’s registrations and certifications.
Assist the Corporate HSE Manager in overseeing the Substance Abuse Prevention Program (Drug & Alcohol Program).
Manage the reporting of WCB (Workers’ Compensation Board) case incidents.
Track performance by collecting pertinent data and generating statistical reports aligned with company policy.
Conduct internal reviews (audits) of corporate policies and procedures.
Develop and/or critically review Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) documents.
Lead orientation sessions for employees, subcontractors, vendors, and site visitors.
Involve supervisors in the risk assessment process for employees engaging in modified work duties.
Work alongside the Corporate HSE Manager to plan, execute, and supervise all mandatory compliance audits.
Establish and maintain the site-specific Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
Manage records and forms relevant to the HSE and Quality Programs (e.g., insurance documents, drivers' abstracts, meeting minutes, inspection reports) to ensure regulatory compliance.
Administer vendor and subcontractor qualification requirements.
Cultivate a motivated and enthusiastic staff committed to operational excellence in their work.
Facilitate a monthly Safety meeting with Trade workers.
Execute other tasks and responsibilities assigned to the HSE Coordinator role.
Qualifications
The ideal applicant for this position should possess a combination of the following credentials and experiences:
Exceptional organizational skills and superior verbal and written communication abilities.
Certification as an Active NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) or Health and Safety Administrator designation.
Holding a COR (Certificate of Recognition) Auditor License.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in a leadership capacity within the domains of quality assurance and/or HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment).
A technical degree or equivalent expertise acquired through practical skills and experience.
Proficiency in quality control protocols within a manufacturing or workshop setting, adhering to Canadian Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
Excellent proficiency in written English communication.
A strong dedication to customer satisfaction.
🔑 Essential Background
Prior history serving in a supervisory role.
Operational knowledge of quality control procedures in a manufacturing environment, compliant with Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
Technical qualification or comparable expertise derived from skills and practical experience.
