Responsibilities
• Labour Relations: Serve as the main point of contact between management and union representatives. Lead or support the negotiation of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and ensure ongoing compliance with labour laws and agreements. You will also provide guidance to the management team, conduct workplace investigations, and prepare company positions for grievance and arbitration processes.
• Onboarding and Offboarding: Guide new employees through their initial stages of employment, facilitating a smooth transition into the company. You will also partner with managers, Corporate HR, and payroll to manage the employee offboarding process.
• Talent Management: Develop and deliver training programs, facilitate the Performance Management program, and create resources for leaders and managers to effectively manage both union and non-union employees.
• Employee Engagement: Support the development and implementation of initiatives designed to boost employee morale, motivation, and satisfaction.
• Recruitment: Create job descriptions, post job ads, conduct preliminary interviews, and provide a shortlist of qualified candidates to hiring managers.
• Compliance: Assist with various compliance activities, including Employment Equity and Pay Equity reporting, and stay up-to-date on all legislative requirements. You will also interpret HR policies and provide guidance to local management to ensure consistent application.
Qualifications
• A post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Human Resource Management.
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in an HR advisory role.
• Demonstrated experience in Employee Relations and strong experience supporting Labour Relations.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven experience in letter writing and policy development.
• Strong conflict resolution skills, including mediation, coaching, and disciplinary guidance.
• The ability to travel occasionally to various company locations throughout Alberta, British Columbia, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories.
