Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all human resources matters within the firm.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process for legal and administrative staff, from sourcing and interviewing to offers and onboarding.
- Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain the employee handbook.
- Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and compliant with legal requirements.
- Guide and support management in performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and professional development planning.
- Ensure legal compliance throughout all human resources functions, staying current with changes in Manitoba employment legislation.
- Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Manage HRIS data and records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality, and prepare reports for senior management.
- Develop and implement employee engagement and wellness initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Coordinate and manage employee leave policies, including maternity, parental, and disability leaves.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a senior human resources generalist or HR Manager role.
- CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) designation is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a professional services firm, with experience in a law firm considered a significant asset.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations issues.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a leadership team.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic and critical thinking abilities, with a focus on problem-solving and sound judgment.
- A high degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
