As the HR lead, you will be responsible for the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment strategies to complex labor relations. This role is "hands-on"—you aren't just behind a desk; you are a visible leader on the production floor, building trust with hourly employees and coaching salaried leadership. You will manage one direct report and oversee all HR cycles, including budget planning, performance management, and engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a high level of professional rigor, an even temperament under pressure, and the ability to adapt quickly to the shifting priorities of a modern manufacturing operation.
Advantages
Competitive Salary: Target range of $95,000 – $105,000 (with a maximum scale up to $115,000).
Financial Incentives: Robust Profit Sharing Plan (historically 8%–12%) and an annual $2,000 Flex Benefit cash account.
Comprehensive Benefits: 3 weeks vacation, and a retirement plan with company matching.
Stability: Lead the HR function for a flagship facility with a long-standing history of community roots and a strong safety record (600+ days accident-free).
Responsibilities
Lead recruitment and onboarding for both hourly and salaried positions to meet growing staffing needs.
Manage labor relations and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), including grievance handling and 2026 contract renewal preparations.
Coach and advise the leadership team on performance management, disciplinary matters, and succession planning.
Drive employee engagement programs to maintain a positive, "close-knit" culture during periods of organizational change.
Ensure 100% compliance with Health & Safety protocols and corporate HR policies.
Qualifications
Experience: 3–12 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Education: Degree or Diploma in HR, Business, or a related field; CHRP/CHRL designation is highly preferred.
Skills: Proven experience in a unionized environment; proficiency in SAP/SuccessFactors and MS 365.
Traits: Exceptional resilience, "rigor," and the ability to maintain an upbeat, approachable presence in a male-dominated, high-intensity workplace.
Summary
We are seeking a high-energy, resilient HR Manager to lead the human resources function at our flagship, high-technology manufacturing plant in St. Marys. This is a critical leadership role for a "firm but fair" professional who thrives in a fast-paced, 24/7 industrial environment. Reporting to the Sector HR Director with a dotted line to the Plant Manager, you will act as a strategic partner in managing a workforce of 200 employees within a unionized setting.
