Responsibilities
• Accountable for the strategy and direction of engagement within the regional area of Prince George coordinating with internal team members in other departments.
• Work with partners within and outside Public Affairs, Communications (PACS) (i.e. Supply Chain Management, Project Execution) to develop engagement strategies, approaches and tools to improve efficiencies and minimize risk related to Community and Indigenous Engagement.
• Develop strategy and execute regulatory requirements in consultation and engagement and document effectively the outcomes, including drafting and preparing submissions to regulators.
• Design and lead engagement in communities in the field with individuals, communities, Indigenous groups and local governments and organizations in support of business goals and project objectives, working collaboratively with internal functions such as Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Business Development and Operations.
• Lead or assist with development and implementation of specific engagement plans, including project specific engagement plans and Regional Engagement Plans, strategies, talking points for media spokesperson and related budgets that reflect the interests of both the Company and the potentially affected stakeholder/Indigenous groups. Meet regulatory requirements and build, maintain and improve the companies reputation as a trusted corporate citizen.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
• University degree from a related post-secondary program.
• 7 or more years of directly related work experience in Indigenous and/or stakeholder engagement, preferably in the resources sector, particularly in the energy industry/energy transportation infrastructure sector.
• Knowledge of regulatory and government processes and asset and experience in participating in regulatory processes are an asset.
• Experience in and understanding of a large, public company with operations in multiple regions.
• Proven written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational abilities.
• Strong social skills, including consultation, negotiation, facilitation, risk communication and conflict resolution.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Office environment.
• Works with highly confidential, strategic information.
• Decentralized operation.
• Frequent travel.
• Attends after-hours municipal, local government and community events on personal and business time throughout the year.
• Office location preference would be Prince George however local offices in Abbotsford, Hope, Kamloops or Fort St. John could be an option for the right candidate.
