Responsibilities
• Read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints to wire custom industrial HVAC units and chillers.
• Install, troubleshoot, and test electrical components including VFDs, relays, sensors, fuses, switches, and transformers.
• Conduct full functional testing and quality control on completed units to ensure operational readiness.
• Perform diagnostic troubleshooting on PLC and HMI systems (Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens) to identify and resolve logic or hardware issues.
• Ensure all wiring and installations strictly adhere to Ontario Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) codes and CSA standards.
• Collaborate with the design team and supervisor to provide feedback on schematic accuracy and unit performance.
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace within a high-precision custom assembly shop environment.
Qualifications
Mandatory Licensure: Must hold a valid 442A (Industrial Electrician) or 309A (Construction and Maintenance) Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades.
Industry Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience specifically within Industrial HVAC, custom machinery manufacturing, or high-density cooling systems.
Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot complex electrical schematics and blueprints (SolidWorks outputs).
Standards Knowledge: Thorough understanding of Ontario Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) codes and CSA standards to ensure all custom builds meet regulatory compliance.
Control Systems: Practical experience identifying and troubleshooting components within PLC and HMI systems (specifically Allen Bradley, Schneider, or Siemens brands).
Component Expertise: Hands-on mastery of industrial components, including VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), relays, sensors, transformers, and 3-phase power systems.
Safety & Testing: Proven track record in performing live-unit testing, functional quality control (QC), and adherence to strict shop safety protocols.
