Love spinning wrenches but hate the monotony of doing the exact same oil change or brake job every single day? This is a permanent, local Nisku opportunity designed for a versatile mechanic who thrives on variety. We support a major heavy industrial fabrication, machining, and rig-up facility, meaning our equipment fleet is diverse, non-repetitive, and always changing.
If you take pride in being a troubleshooting generalist who can handle everything from a warehouse forklift to a heavy-duty transport unit, this shop is your playground.
Advantages
Autonomy: If you know your way around a toolbox, we will leave you alone to do your job. No micro-management—just clear tasks assigned at the morning toolbox meeting.
Diverse Asset Fleet: Gain exposure to and maintain an extensive array of equipment including material handling machinery, fleet vehicles, and industrial shop systems.
Local Nisku Yard: Fully equipped, multi-acre service facilities and rig-up yards. Work local and sleep in your own bed every night.
Financial Security: Top-tier hourly wage ($40.00 – $42.00/hr) with steady hours and overtime opportunities tracking with our manufacturing workload.
Health & Wellness: Comprehensive group benefits covering dental, extended health care, life insurance, and an employee assistance program (EAP).
The Ultimate Variety: No production lines or repetitive tasks. You’ll be trusted to keep an entire industrial yard running smoothly.
Responsibilities
As our go-to Mechanical Technician, you will be the standalone backbone of our Nisku shop and fleet maintenance. You will oversee the mechanical integrity of our support equipment, material handling fleet, and yard machinery, ensuring our massive manufacturing and rig-up operations experience zero downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on a diverse fleet of material handling equipment, including warehouse and heavy-duty forklifts.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty transport units, yard equipment, and industrial shop machinery.
- Handle general automotive maintenance and light-duty fleet repairs as required.
- Safely operate material handling equipment, shop machinery, and hand/power tools within a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Work independently to diagnose complex mechanical and hydraulic issues, sourcing parts and planning your own repair workflow without needing direct supervision.
Qualifications
Certification: Valid Journeyman Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician ticket is preferred; however, experienced 3rd or 4th-year apprentices who can completely work alone without supervision are strongly encouraged to apply.
The "Jack-of-All-Trades" Mindset: Proven experience or high comfort level dabbling in a bit of everything—forklifts, heavy duty, automotive, and general shop hydraulics.
Independence: Strong ability to work autonomously, manage your own day, and troubleshoot problems without someone looking over your shoulder.
Reliability & Safety: A self-starter who possesses their own hand tools and takes pride in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-kept shop environment.
