Responsibilities
The IT Enterprise / Strategic Architect will be responsible for:
- Architecture Assessment & Analysis: Leading the overall enterprise architecture assessment for client ministry portfolios. Gathering existing documentation (strategic plans, technology roadmaps) and analyzing the current state of application assets, focusing on core capability, current health, technology risks, and alignment to target state.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Conducting interviews and workshops with key stakeholders to elicit requirements and facilitate alignment.
- Current vs. Target State Mapping: Mapping current state architecture against target state architecture. Assessing the portfolio of opportunities and gaps at both program and ministry levels and developing the conceptual architecture of a future to-be state.
- Strategic Recommendation: Recommending strategies for integrating emerging technologies, including AI for fraud detection. Recommending priorities for the future to-be state based on risk and potential impacts.
- Roadmap & Planning: Developing a target state alignment plan and assisting in the development of business cases for target state plans.
- Governance & Reporting: Presenting insights to leadership and architecture governance committees. Leading the development of a repeatable pattern for iterative assessments, gap analysis, and recommendations.
- Knowledge Transfer: Providing effective knowledge transfer, coaching, and mentoring to Ministry staff at all stages of the assignment.
Qualifications
Must-Have Experience:
- Knowledge of EA Frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) – Demonstrated ability to structure architecture analysis and design.
- Portfolio Analysis Skills – Ability to assess application assets for health, risk, and alignment.
- Emerging Technologies – Understanding of AI/ML concepts and integration strategies.
- Business Case Development – Ability to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Strong facilitation skills for workshops and interviews.
- Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI).
Desired Skills (Assets):
- Proficiency in architecture modeling tools (i.e., PowerDesigner, Visio).
- Knowledge of Governance Processes and Architecture Governance Committees.
- Understanding of agile methodologies for planning deliverables.
