Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy custom software applications, user controls, and automation tools to streamline operational workflows.

Build robust back-end logic, automation scripts, and macros using VBA across Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access environments.
Design, optimize, and maintain database objects, stored procedures, and complex queries within SQL Server.
Integrate application components and external services using standard API methods.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups using Jira and Confluence.
Conduct code reviews and ensure all solution designs adhere to approved architecture, security, and software development standards.
Facilitate solution walkthroughs and present product functionality demos to internal business partners and stakeholders.
Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business process requirements into clear technical specifications and scalable software tools.
Qualifications
Core Requirements & Technical Skills
Development & SDLC Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive hands-on experience in software development and the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Front-End Development: Practical proficiency in front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Back-End & Scripting: Strong expertise in back-end development utilizing VBA for process automation.
Database & SQL Server: Hands-on experience with SQL Server, including writing, optimizing, and tuning SQL queries and stored procedures.
Microsoft Desktop Database & Automation: Advanced proficiency in MS Access, MS Excel, and complex Macro development.
API Integration: Proven experience using and integrating API methods for data exchange.
Education: Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Experience & Assets
Agile & Tooling: Practical experience working in Agile team environments using Jira and Confluence, with experience participating in code reviews.
Financial Services Context: Previous software development experience within a banking or financial institution.
Process Improvement: Lean Six Sigma certification or background in operational process simplification is a strong asset.
Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
Communication & Presentation: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with strong demo and presentation abilities to articulate end-product functionality clearly.
