If so, I'd love to speak to you! Our client, an Alberta based leading provider of integrated Electrical, Fire Alarm, and Security solutions, is seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to support a major school modernization project in Calgary.
This position is ideal for someone comfortable working in older facilities, following strict safety protocols, and contributing to high-impact upgrades in institutional settings.
*With the current teacher strike, work is predominantly done during the day with overtime available. If/when the strike is over, work will transition to night shift 4x10 per week. *
Position: 6-week project (with opportunity for extension and/or ongoing projects)
Schedule: Currently Mon to Fri days - Post teacher strike, 4x10 night shift
Environment: Institutional Retrofit / Upgrade
Wage: $42–$45/hr (based on experience)

Responsibilities
What you'll be doing:
- Perform final electrical connections and lighting control circuitry installations (occupancy sensors, dimmers, relays, control panels)
- Support fire alarm system upgrades, including pulling and installing low-voltage wiring for addressable devices and connecting to the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP)
- Install conduit and wiring for security systems and cameras, ensuring proper integration with electrical and network systems
- Conduct troubleshooting, verification, and system testing under project supervision
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed and follow all applicable electrical and building codes
- Collaborate closely with project leads and other trades to ensure timely completion of work orders
Qualifications
What's required?
- Journeyman Electrician (Alberta or Interprovincial Red Seal required)
- Proven experience with lighting control systems, low-voltage fire alarm, and security installations
- Strong understanding of wiring methods, relay logic, and control panel terminations
- Ability to work safely in older facilities with potential asbestos hazards — full PPE and abatement procedures strictly enforced
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders, lifts, scaffolding)
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to deliver high-quality work under tight timelines
