Responsibilities
- Requirement Elicitation: Lead the gathering and documentation of functional requirements for Cognos and Power BI applications, specifically focusing on data migration and cloud transitions.
- Solution Design: Develop customized query applications, guided analysis, and drill-down functionality to assist in quantitative business analysis.
- Data Migration: Oversee the design and concepts of data migration across multiple platforms (e.g., Oracle to SQL Server or Cognos to Power BI).
- ETL & Scripting: Create and optimize complex SQL scripts for data profiling, cleansing, and automated extraction to ensure data integrity across large datasets.
- Reporting & Dashboards: Design and support BI reports and dashboards using Cognos 10+ and Microsoft Power BI, including the implementation of "key-trend" alerts.
- Process Engineering: Conduct business process re-engineering and process mapping (UML) to align application designs with modern business objectives.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve production issues and defects within ETL pipelines (SSIS) and BI deployments using tools like Microfocus ALM.
- Knowledge Transfer: Provide 1-on-1 sessions and documentation to internal staff to ensure the sustainability of the developed solutions.
Qualifications
- Technical Ecosystem: Deep experience in environments utilizing Oracle, Informatica, SSIS, and SQL Server for data warehousing and ETL.
- BI Tool Mastery: Demonstrated proficiency in designing enterprise-wide solutions using Cognos 10 or higher and Microsoft Power BI.
- Advanced SQL: Expertise in writing complex SQL for data profiling and query optimization across diverse database environments (Oracle 10x+, DB2, SQL Server).
- Data Migration: Proven understanding of data warehouse design and seamless integration concepts for transitioning to modern BI platforms.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data source systems for cleanliness issues and develop automated cleansing/load scripts.
- Modern Tech Stack: (Asset) Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including Azure, Databricks, and Power Query.
- Education & Methodologies: Experience across the full SDLC using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
