Responsibilities
-Read and accurately interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings to determine glass type, thickness, frame details, installation procedures, and required materials
-Measure, mark, and cut glass and other materials (e.g., plastics, granite, aluminum panels, laminates) using hand tools, power tools, and computerized cutting equipment
-Fabricate, assemble, and install metal frames (aluminum, steel) for glass installations, including storefronts, curtain walls, windows, and doors
-Position and secure glass panes into frames using clips, points, moldings, glazing compounds, sealants, and fasteners
-Install pre-cut mirrors, opaque and transparent glass panels, and specialized glass (e.g., skylights, showcases, security glass, fire-resistant glass) in various commercial settings
-Assemble, erect, and dismantle scaffolds, rigging, and hoisting equipment, and operate lifting devices (e.g., cranes with suction cups) to maneuver large and heavy glass panels safely
-Repair and service commercial aluminum doors and other glass supporting structures, including replacing damaged glass or faulty sealant
-Apply weather seal or putty around pane edges to ensure watertight joints
Qualifications
-Minimum 3+ years of proven experience as a Commercial Glazier
-Experience with storefronts, curtain walls, and large-scale commercial projects is highly preferred
-Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, Power Elevated Work Platforms, Hoisting and Rigging, First Aid/CPR) are highly desirable
-Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record
-Comfortable working at heights, including on ladders, scaffolds, and swing stages
-Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues, clients, and contractors
