This role is ideal for a proactive administrator who can jump in, understand core infrastructure components quickly, and contribute immediately to routine maintenance and system health.

Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations, maintenance, and regular patching of Linux server environments.
Utilize VMware to provision, manage, and decommission virtual machines (start/stop, create/delete snapshots, create/delete VMs).
Monitor VMware infrastructure by actively reviewing system alerts and analyzing basic performance metrics.
Manage basic cloud infrastructure within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including instance lifecycle management (start/stop, snapshotting, provisioning, and deleting).
Support scheduled evening patching windows 3 to 4 times per month.
Participate in quarterly infrastructure maintenance windows, typically occurring Sunday mornings between midnight and 6:00 AM.
Qualifications
Must-Have Technical Qualifications
Linux Systems Administration: 2–3 years of experience supporting Linux servers hosting critical business infrastructure. Intermediate proficiency required.
Virtualization: 2–3 years of practical experience with VMware. Ability to handle fundamental VM lifecycle tasks and monitor performance metrics.
Cloud Infrastructure: 2–3 years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Basic proficiency (UI-based instance management) is mandatory; familiarity with the gcloud CLI is highly advantageous.
Scripting & Automation: Intermediate knowledge of BASH scripting for operational tasks, alongside foundational (junior-level) exposure to configuration management tools like Ansible or Saltstack.
Soft Skills & Additional Requirements
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (Level 5 proficiency) to effectively collaborate with a small team and document operational updates.
Schedule Flexibility: Must be comfortable and willing to accommodate regular evening patching (3–4 times/month) and quarterly off-hours maintenance windows.
Asset Qualifications: Prior experience supporting servers running SAP, Oracle ERP, or JD Edwards environments is a major asset.
