Responsibilities
-Set up and operate CNC lathe and CNC milling machines to fabricate parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, and production schedules.
-Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code to determine machining operations, setup requirements, and dimensional specifications.
-Select appropriate tools, cutting speeds, and feed rates based on material type, part geometry, and machine capabilities.
-Load and unload parts, deburr as needed, and inspect finished products for quality and adherence to tolerances using various measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.).
-Perform in-process quality checks and make necessary adjustments to machine settings to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
-Troubleshoot machine alarms, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
-Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
-Document production activities, including setup sheets, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
Qualifications
-High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized Machinist apprenticeship program or post-secondary education in Machining Technology is highly preferred.
-Previous experience operating CNC lathes and CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
-Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and technical specifications.
-Proficient in the use of various precision measuring instruments.
-Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
-Commitment to safety and quality.
-Ability to stand for extended periods.
-Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
-Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
-Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to coolants and oils.
