Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Crew Supervision
Direct Supervision: Lead, supervise, and assign daily tasks to maintenance crews, ensuring manpower is allocated effectively to meet production priorities.
Team Integration: Build strong relationships with area production supervisors to align maintenance activities with output goals.
Mentorship: Manage the tenure and development of younger apprentices; identify training needs and promote internal skill upgrading.
Accountability: Manage attendance tracking and performance; recommend disciplinary actions when necessary to maintain team standards.
Technical Oversight & Equipment Reliability
PM Program Management: Implementation and continuous monitoring of a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PM) program.
Hands-on Support: Actively participate in troubleshooting, breakdowns, and assessments alongside the team when required.
Strategic Planning: Review Maintenance Request Forms (MRFs), develop corrective action plans, and advise on modifications to existing safety and maintenance protocols.
External Coordination: Interface with equipment suppliers and vendors for parts specification and to expedite emergency repairs.
Safety & Compliance
Partner with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to ensure all equipment remains in safe operating condition.
Supervise third-party sub-contractors and project work on-site.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements
433a millwright license or equivalent experience
Heavy Industry Expertise: Proven experience in heavy manufacturing is a must. Specific familiarity with large-scale equipment (e.g., heavy hydraulic presses) is highly valued.
Leadership Experience: A minimum of 3 years in direct supervision of maintenance trades, backed by a qualified trades background and at least 5 years in heavy manufacturing/facilities maintenance.
Analytical Mindset: Ability to review complex plans, identify equipment challenges, and execute corrective action strategies.
Interpersonal Skills: Must be a "people person" who can get along with the team while maintaining the authority to lead and hold staff accountable.
Communication & Tech: Strong command of English (written/verbal) and proficiency in MS Office for reporting and tracking.
