Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and schedule a dedicated team of technicians, ensuring high performance and continuous skill development.
Workflow Coordination: Manage daily work orders, shift transitions, and administrative duties, including labor tracking and payroll approvals.
Technical Escalation: Act as the primary technical resource for complex system failures, providing expert guidance to the team when needed.
System Reliability & Maintenance Strategy
Preventive Excellence: Oversee and refine PM (Preventive Maintenance) programs to maximize equipment uptime and lifecycle.
Predictive Integration: Utilize advanced diagnostic tools—including vibration analysis, thermography, and oil testing—to anticipate and mitigate equipment failure.
Infrastructure Oversight: Manage facility-wide systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical) and coordinate specialized third-party vendors for major repairs or upgrades.
Inventory Control: Maintain a robust spare-parts strategy to ensure critical components are always available.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all operations strictly follow provincial health and safety regulations, including LOTO (Lock-out/Tag-out) and PPE protocols.
Audit Readiness: Lead safety briefings, perform site audits, and ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards (HACCP/SQF).
Continuous Improvement
Data-Driven Decisions: Track and report on key performance metrics such as MTTR, MTBF, and PM compliance using CMMS software.
Project Support: Contribute to capital improvement projects, root cause analysis (RCA), and facility-wide efficiency initiatives.
Qualifications
Professional Background: 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity.
Technical Credentials: A valid Trade Certification or Technical Diploma (Red Seal 433A Millwright or Electrical preferred).
Automation Expertise: Deep proficiency in troubleshooting automated systems, specifically Siemens PL7 PLCs, VFD drives, encoders, and industrial print-and-apply labeling systems.
Systems Knowledge: Strong ability to interpret complex technical schematics and blueprints.
Software Proficiency: Experienced with CMMS platforms and the Microsoft Office suite.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for reporting to senior management and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
