Responsibilities
- Set up and operate a manual cylindrical grinder with precision to meet all product specifications and final dimensions.
- Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to determine the required machining operations and setup requirements.
- Adjust machine settings for factors like speed, feed rate, coolant flow, and grinding angle to ensure optimal performance.
- Independently perform quality checks on finished parts using a variety of precision measurement tools to confirm conformance to tight tolerances.
- Identify and resolve operational issues or quality concerns with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate expertise as the primary Manual Cylindrical Grinder on the afternoon shift, ensuring consistent, high-quality output.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of practical experience as a Manual Cylindrical Grinder is essential.
- Ability to produce high-quality finished parts with tight tolerances.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Extensive experience utilizing precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and various gauges.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and manage all aspects of the grinding process, from machine setup to final inspection, on an afternoon shift.
- Possession of a 429A General Machinist Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) is considered a significant asset.
