The Consultant Construction Technologist will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and administering the project controls program for Mica and Revelstoke. Some initial responsibilities include:

1. Developing and managing an integrated schedule which includes multiple project(s) as well as regular facility maintenance outages.
2. Creating and maintaining workforce forecasts, including internal BC Hydro resource projections.
3. Reviewing project schedules for compliance.
4. Coordinating laydown and preparing staging drawings.
5. Managing our shared services budgets, including annual cost estimates and actuals tracking.
6. Assisting Construction Managers with Work Package Management (WPM).
7. Supporting Construction Managers in tracking construction progress.
8. Leading technology-based initiatives to enhance project efficiency.

•Performs a variety of duties related to planning, estimating, scheduling and field coordination activities to construction activities.
Location:
Mica Creek and Revelstoke.
Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk)
Responsibilities
Experience and Role Accountabilities
•Prepares detailed cost estimates by considering engineering specifications and contract conditions; research, analyzes and recommends best methods and procedures to minimize labour and equipment requirements, associated costs and/or scheduling impacts; revises estimates and schedules.
•Prepares quantity takeoffs for a wide range of materials and components; prepares quantity and costs calculations on the direct costs of material and components by using either established unit cost and productivity rate information or estimating from base information; assesses risk situations and allows for in estimating process and pricing of work.
•Applies established markups to direct cost components to ensure recovery of full overhead expense.
•Prepares work schedules and coordinates activities on assigned projects. May be required to design drawings including drafting and perform survey of sites. Also may operate various electrical testing equipment in order to prepare a variety of detailed technical reports; maintains project progress data such as graphs, charts, etc.; advises managers when discrepancies or changes to work plan are required.
Qualifications
•Diploma of Technology from an institute of technology or Degree in a construction related field such as Engineering, Forestry, Architecture, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration or Quantity Surveying; or a related trades qualification (such as Electrician, Winder, Power Line Technician, General Trades 1 or Millwright).
•Five (5) years of experience in construction and/or project management.
•Must hold a valid class five (5) driver's license.
Must Have
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of scheduling software like P6, Microsoft project.
- Scheduling and planning experience
- Excellent skills with regards to Microsoft Office specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Trades, engineering, or technologist background (Electrical or Mechanical preferred)
Nice to Have
- Construction and Contract Management experiences.
- Industrial construction and maintenance experience.
- Experience with data analysis.
