In this role, you will bridge the gap between customer vision and production. You will participate directly in client meetings, translate custom requirements into 2D and 3D technical drawings, and coordinate closely with the production floor to ensure seamless manufacturing. Responsibilities
2D & 3D Design: Develop, modify, and finalize complex mechanical and structural designs for custom commercial trailers utilizing AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Client Collaboration: Sit in on client meetings to understand unique custom specs; use creative problem-solving to brainstorm and implement design solutions that fit their business needs.
Production Hand-off: Translate detailed 3D concepts into clear, accurate 2D paper drawings for the machine shop, nesting programs (ProNest), and welding departments.
Project Efficiency: Manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines, aiming to move standard custom projects from initial design to validation within a 40-hour (1 week) window to keep production moving smoothly.
Qualifications
Experience: 2–3 years of professional experience in mechanical design (experience within the transportation or heavy equipment manufacturing industry is highly preferred).
Education: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
