In this full-time role within our manufacturing & logistics division, your primary focus will be breaking down raw rubber by rolling and heating it on the mill. Once the material reaches the precise temperature and texture required, you will deliver it to the calender for sheeting. Additionally, you will compound material on the mill according to production routers, monitor material quality, and ensure raw materials remain free of debris or contaminants.
This role works directly alongside calender operators and back-end operators to keep production flowing smoothly, efficiently, and safely. This position operates on a 12-hour continental day shift schedule (4:45 AM to 5:00 PM). Because this manufacturing site is situated outside of central Waterloo/Guelph and is not located on a public bus route, applicants must possess reliable personal transportation to commute for scheduled shifts. Candidates with prior experience in rubber milling, calender operation, or heavy machinery setup are strongly encouraged to apply; however, candidates with general manufacturing experience and a strong mechanical aptitude are also welcome.
Skills required:
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on operational capability with industrial machinery.
• Ability to perform physical work including rolling, lifting, and handling rubber materials throughout a 12-hour shift.
• Excellent attention to detail for inspecting material quality, texture, and temperature.

Responsibilities
• Break down raw rubber compounds on the mill, applying heat and rolling to reach specified temperature and texture targets.
• Deliver properly conditioned rubber directly to the calender machine for sheeting operations.
• Monitor the quality, consistency, and cleanliness of rubber throughout the milling process, keeping material free of impurities and garbage.
• Monitor the calender bank continuously to supply raw rubber in a timely manner and avoid production bottlenecks.
• Assist the Calender Operator and back-end production operators with secondary manufacturing tasks as assigned.
• Compound raw rubber ingredients on the mill in strict adherence to router instructions.
• Weigh rubber totes accurately using industrial scales and generate correct tracking tags.
• Accurately complete required daily documentation, including pre-start equipment audits, quality logs, and production reports.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace within the manufacturing & logistics area.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience in milling operations, calender processing, or heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and complete production documentation in English with accuracy.
• Valid Overhead Crane Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Must have reliable personal transportation, as the facility is not accessible by public transit/bus route.
• Willingness and flexibility to work 12-hour continental shift rotations.
