Are you a highly meticulous Journeyman Millwright with extensive experience working on complex, high-precision industrial machinery?
Do you have deep technical expertise in rotating equipment, centrifuges, high-tonnage systems, and advanced pump motors?
...
Are you open to a mobile, travel-heavy contract role with camp or hotel accommodations fully covered by the company?
Do you hold a dual ticket in electrical, or have strong electrical troubleshooting skills that you want to leverage for a premium rate?
If so, we’d love to hear from you! Our client, a dynamic leader in the construction and large-scale project services industry, is looking for a detail-oriented Industrial Millwright for an upcoming project starting this August. This role is based out of their Calgary shop with regular mobilization to remote project locations (such as Mackenzie, BC). It is designed for an independent contractor or a flexible tradesperson looking for a stable 6 to 12-month contract with a high degree of precision work.
As a Millwright, you will be trusted with highly critical, complex equipment where guesswork isn't an option—focusing on torque accuracy (Newton-meters), massive high-tonnage machinery (up to 12k tons), and specialized fluid transfer systems. Candidates who also possess an electrical ticket will be highly utilized across both disciplines and compensated at a premium rate.

Hours: Field hours are 10-12 hour days
Environment: Industrial Shop & Remote Field Sites (Camp or hotel accommodations provided + project-specific LOA)
Wage: Competitive Contractor Rates (Based on experience and dual-ticket qualifications)

- Complex, Engaging Work: Work on high-spec, large-scale industrial machinery that rewards true precision and technical expertise.
- Full Travel Coverage: Comfortable accommodations (camp or hotels) and travel costs fully covered by the company, plus project-specific LOA.
- Stable Project Pipeline: Initial 6 to 12-month contract with options to adjust based on mutual fit and upcoming project schedules.
- August Start Date: Secure your next major field project ahead of the late-summer rush.
Responsibilities
What will you be doing?
- Precision Mechanical Maintenance: Align, troubleshoot, and overhaul highly complex rotating machinery, high-volume water transfer pumps, and centrifuge equipment.
- High-Spec Equipment Care: Execute meticulous diagnostic and repair work requiring exact specifications, torque accuracy (Newton-meters), and handling heavy high-tonnage industrial assets.
- Field Mobilization: Travel to remote project sites to independently manage mechanical breakdowns, hydraulics, and pneumatics under minimal supervision.
- Electrical Troubleshooting (Asset): Diagnose AC power distribution, VFDs, controls, and electric-over-hydraulic systems to minimize downtime.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records including pre-inspection reports, technical logs, and field hazard assessments (FLHAs).
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to provincial OHS standards, corporate SOPs, and critical safety protocols like Lock-out/Tag-out.
Qualifications
What are we looking for in a candidate?
- Trade Certification: Valid Journeyman Millwright Certificate / Industrial Mechanic designation. A valid Journeyman Electrician certificate is a massive asset.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience working on rotating machinery, centrifuge pump motors, and high-tonnage industrial equipment where detail-oriented accuracy is non-negotiable.
- Compliance & Testing: Must be able to pass a pre-access Drug & Alcohol test (including a strict policy regarding Cannabis) and provide a clean driver's abstract for operating company trucks (Valid Class 5 License required).
