Are you an operational Network Analyst who excels at core network administration and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves when duty calls?
Do you have direct, recent experience managing Fortinet (FortiGate) firewall policies, provisioning switch ports, and keeping high-availability enterprise networks running smoothly?
...
Are you looking for a dynamic contract role in Ottawa where your day-to-day work directly supports mission-critical airport operations?
If you are a adaptable technical resource who can handle logical network management and step up to support physical hardware in the server room when needed, this opportunity was built for you:
We are seeking a versatile Network Analyst for a 6-month contract role (with strong potential for extension) on-site in Ottawa, ON. Working closely under the guidance of the Lead Network Analyst, you will serve as a key technical resource supporting day-to-day network operations to ensure rock-solid security, optimal performance, and uninterrupted uptime across an enterprise airport environment.
Your main focus will be core network administration—managing routine Fortinet firewall rules, executing switch port provisioning, and proactively monitoring network health via SolarWinds. Because you are supporting a fast-paced, high-availability airport environment, you will also serve as hands-on support when physical hardware tasks arise, jumping in to assist with rack-and-stack, patching, or cabling in a pinch.
Advantages
Mission-Critical Impact: Keep essential systems running reliably in a high-availability setting.
Dynamic Work Environment: Balance day-to-day logical administration with active, hands-on support.
Strong Extension Potential: Excellent opportunity for long-term contract engagement.
Responsibilities
- Execute daily port provisioning, VLAN assignments, interface configurations, and port-level troubleshooting across enterprise switch infrastructure.
- Support daily operational health across LAN/WAN networks, Wireless Access Points (WAPs), and Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs).
- Maintain real-time operational logs, update technical documentation, and escalate complex faults to senior leadership when necessary.
- Perform hands-on firewall policy administration, including rule updates, policy modifications, and object management within Fortinet / FortiGate firewalls.
- Troubleshoot VPN access, gateway rules, protocol compatibility, and user-access requirements.
- Monitor security logs (intrusion detection, firewall logs) for anomalies and report findings to IT management.
- Utilize enterprise monitoring tools (SolarWinds) to proactively track environment performance, identify bottlenecks, and resolve operational issues before they disrupt airport activities.
- Provide hands-on physical support in a pinch, including patching, cabling, racking, and stacking hardware across telecom closets and server room environments.
- Maintain and document physical connectivity and cabling layouts throughout the facilities as work is performed.
Qualifications
- Core Network Experience: Solid background supporting enterprise LAN/WAN, switching, and wireless infrastructure.
- Fortinet / FortiGate Expertise: Direct experience managing rules, policies, and objects within FortiGate firewalls.
- Switching Knowledge: Proficiency with switch port provisioning, VLAN tagging, and interface troubleshooting.
- Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with enterprise network monitoring platforms like SolarWinds.
- Adaptable & Team-Oriented: A practical mindset focused on logical administration, but willing and ready to assist with physical hardware tasks whenever the team requires extra hands.
- Location: Ability to work 100% onsite in Ottawa, ON.
