Responsibilities
• Provide leadership, planning, and direction to the People Forward payroll team
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll
• Create a positive and supportive working environment
• Drive forward process and reporting improvements, implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
• Ensure compliance with federal, provincial payroll laws and best practices.
• Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
• Collaborate with the implementation partner and ensure the needs of the CRS are met.
Qualifications
mal payroll education from the National Payroll Institute (NPI)
• Subject Matter Expert in payroll and ability to communicate effectively to share this knowledge
• Possess at least 10 years of relevant payroll experience
• Have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience
• Proven involvement in payroll implementation projects
• Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
• Skilled in engaging with, anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple key stakeholders to ensure deliverables are represented
• Familiar with current systems and processes related to Payroll including the current payroll general ledger structures
• Strong communication skills and are able to represent the interests of payroll on the project
• Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with a track record of delivering results while meeting tight deadlines
• Enjoy working as a team and collaborating with others to meet shared objectives
• Honest and trustworthy, are results oriented and strive to be the best in what you do
• You believe in collaboration, building relationships and value the perspectives of others
• High level of integrity and confidentiality
• Keen attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Excellence in achieving multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
• Proficent with Microsoft Office Suite especially with Excel
