Responsibilities
As a Payroll Specialist in Markham, ON, you will be responsible for the full-cycle payroll processing for approximately 300 employees. Your key duties will include:
-Collecting and verifying timesheet data, calculating wages including overtime, bonuses, and deductions, and executing accurate and timely payroll runs.
-Responding to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management with professionalism and efficiency.
-Preparing and submitting Records of Employment (ROEs) as needed, while maintaining organized and up-to-date payroll documentation.
-Administering payroll taxes, employee benefit payments, and tracking compensation details including pay rates, benefit changes, and new hire data.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this Payroll Specialist role in Markham, ON, you will need the following qualifications:
-At least 3 years of experience in a Payroll Specialist or Payroll Administrator role, with a focus on Canadian payroll, particularly in Ontario.
-Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the National Payroll Institute (formerly The National Institute of Payroll) is an asset, or currently working toward certification.
-Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and related regulations.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experienced with ADP Workforce Now (WFN).
-Comfortable working fully onsite.
-Highly reliable with strong attention to detail.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
