In this vital Temporary Pigment Controller role, aligned with key operational functions of chemical equipment operators and tenders, you will play a central role in the accurate weighing, staging, and labeling of raw additives and pigments according to detailed work orders. Working a straight afternoon shift (Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM), you will support continuous production cycles while adhering to rigorous quality control standards and health and safety guidelines. Responsibilities
• Weigh, label, and stage pigments and raw additives precisely as specified on daily WORK ORDERS and pick lists.
• Operate counterbalance and stand-up reach forklifts safely to transport, store, and retrieve raw materials throughout the plant floor.
• Ensure proper inventory management by recording Raw Material (RM) codes, lot numbers, and precise material weights within the paperless enterprise tracking system.
• Monitor stock levels of additives and pigments continuously, communicating proactively with the Scheduler and Expediter to prevent production bottlenecks.
• Inspect incoming and staging pigments for contamination, proper packaging, and quality standards prior to releasing them into production lines.
• Re-label used or partial pigments and additives accurately with RM codes, lot numbers, total weights, and operator initials while keeping master inventory spreadsheets updated.
• Maintain organized racking systems for pigments and additives, ensuring clean and efficient storage across designated facility zones.
• Pull samples of expired or suspect raw materials and deliver them promptly to the Quality Control (QC) Lab for mandatory safety and quality testing.
• Perform physical inventory cycle counts regularly to maintain precise stock tracking within the manufacturing & logistics workflow.
• Serve as a cross-trained back-up operator for the Colour side Blender Operator position when directed by shift leadership.
• Follow all facility Health & Safety protocols, maintaining a clean, hazard-free workstation and properly storing tools and sanitation equipment.
• Assist with special operational projects, process improvement tasks, and facility maintenance duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent secondary education preferred.
• Valid certifications or proven hands-on experience operating both counterbalance and stand-up reach forklifts.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in material handling, inventory control, or batch mixing within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to pass a standard basic workplace mathematics and numerical competency test.
• Demonstrated track record of excellent attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
• Willingness and flexibility to work overtime hours or adjusted shifts when business demands arise.
• Ability to perform physical tasks required in an industrial plant environment, including standing, walking, and lifting raw materials.
