Responsibilities
• Perform a variety of journeyman-level pipefitting jobs, including refitting and repairs to sulphur, dioxide, and chlorine systems.
• Complete alterations and installations of new piping systems at wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations.
• Measure, cut, thread, and install various types of pipes and conduits, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and PVC.
• Test completed work to ensure proper function and adherence to all specifications.
• Direct the work of assigned helpers and ensure safe working practices are followed at all job sites.
• Plan work methods and procedures according to job requirements and troubleshoot existing piping systems to identify and resolve issues.
• Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and Operations staff to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
• High school graduation (Grade 12) plus a valid Trades Qualification certificate.
• Expertise in pipefitting, including a comprehensive understanding of various materials and systems.
• Strong ability to interpret plans, blueprints, and job requirements.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to industrial piping systems.
• Experience working in an industrial or similar complex environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for a team-based setting.
• Meticulous attention to safety protocols and procedures.
• Must be able to work in enclosed and potentially dirty (sewage) areas.
• A valid B.C. Driver's Licence is required.
• A Health Certificate for watershed entry will be necessary.
• The ability to provide your own hand tools is required.
