At our facility in Schenectady you can develop your full potential, sustainably, by applying your expertise within the Packaging team as the Plant Buyer :
- Collaborate with various departments including Maintenance Planners, Technicians, Reliability Leads, Plant Management, Shipping, HR, and others to ensure timely procurement for preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Manage purchase orders and vendor communications, maintain updated price lists, and conduct performance evaluations of critical suppliers
- Apply best practices in procurement, adhering to Cascades’ procurement policy and purchasing management standards
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to support long-term partnerships
- Propose and implement process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency and ensure the continuity of essential goods and services for the plant
- Support with end of month inventory adjustment and report analysis
- Ensure the creation and validation of requisitions for their unit’s needs based on MRP parameters
- Negotiate prices, leverage buys and analyze purchasing reports to reduce inventory and purchase a quality product at the best possible price

You too, put forward your strengths:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- College diploma in administration or a related field, Bachelor’s degree in logistics or business is preferred
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly with internal teams and vendors
- High level of autonomy, integrity, and initiative to support operational and sustainability goals
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and conditions with suppliers
- Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Office, and procurement software is an asset
- Experience with corporate ERP systems, preferably SAP, is an asset
- Background in inventory control is an asset
