In this senior hands-on technical leadership role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, operating, and evolving enterprise-scale DevOps and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) platforms. You will own the reliability, scalability, and governance of core platforms such as GitLab SaaS and Terraform Cloud, while enabling secure, AI-assisted software delivery infrastructure across the entire organization. The team focuses on embedding automated compliance controls, operational excellence, and AI-native delivery pathways to dramatically elevate the developer experience (DevEx) and accelerate business outcomes.
Desired Start Date: July 6, 2026
Contract Length: 6-Month Contract (Possibility of extension is highly likely)
Location: Hybrid Vancouver (4 days per week on-site at the Vancouver, BC corporate headquarters)
Advantages
High-Scale Platform Leadership: Own and optimize the baseline DevOps and cloud provisioning canvas used by hundreds of engineers globally.
Bleeding-Edge Tooling Integration: Pioneer the practical deployment of AI-assisted engineering workflows across corporate CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and automated incident responses.
True DevSecOps Autonomy: Shape enterprise-wide secure software delivery standards by architecting native policy-as-code guardrails and software supply chain security structures.
Strategic Global Impact: Drive data-informed platform enhancements by analyzing global utilization metrics, engineering reusable components, and fostering an elite site reliability culture.
Responsibilities
Platform Operations & Infrastructure Engineering
Enterprise Operations: Administer, scale, and ensure the high availability of GitLab SaaS, Terraform Cloud, and associated software supply chain platforms.
Pipeline Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines, enterprise runner infrastructures, reusable pipeline templates, and shared modules.
Cloud & Container Orchestration: Manage underlying distributed environments utilizing Kubernetes across public cloud infrastructure (AWS).
Reliability & Observability: Drive platform telemetry, logging, and monitoring to maintain operational readiness. Participate actively in an engineering on-call rotation to guarantee high uptime metrics.
Governance, Security & Automation
Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) Governance: Build, maintain, and govern standardized Terraform modules alongside automated policy-as-code guardrails.
Supply Chain Security: Embed comprehensive Secure SDLC (SSDLC) controls, artifact provenance verification, and automated vulnerability management directly into engineering pipelines.
GitOps & Self-Service Workflows: Develop declarative GitOps deployment models and self-service platform interfaces to automate cloud provisioning, identity access management, and lifecycle configurations.
Strategy, Documentation & Mentorship
Architecture Mapping: Produce high-fidelity architectural patterns, platform engineering blueprints, and operational runbooks suitable for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Product Managers, Cyber Security Architects, and Engineering Leads to shape long-term platform roadmaps and prioritization matrices.
Team Mentorship: Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, advocate for platform engineering standards, and champion a culture of continuous learning.
Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years of progressive professional experience operating inside Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles.
SaaS & Tooling Mastery: Deep, referenceable hands-on experience managing and governing GitLab SaaS configurations and Terraform Cloud architectures at an enterprise scale.
Cloud & Containerization Core: Proven expertise in Kubernetes, distributed computing architectures, and AWS cloud infrastructure operations.
Policy-as-Code & Compliance: Practical experience implementing automated regulatory checks via policy-as-code engines (e.g., Open Policy Agent / OPA Rego logic or HashiCorp Sentinel).
Software Supply Chain Acuity: Solid structural understanding of artifact governance, dependency management, and compliance verification.
AI Tool Integration: Demonstrated experience embedding Generative AI tools or automated coding assistants into production-grade developer pipelines.
Soft Skills: Outstanding communication and collaborative skills, with a track record of driving cross-functional alignment and motivating high-performing technical squads.
Summary
