We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator or Database Reliability Engineer with strong, hands-on PostgreSQL expertise to join a large, complex database environment supporting hundreds of instances and thousands of users. Responsibilities
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or Database Reliability Engineer, or a similar role with a strong focus on automation and DevOps principles
Skills:
- Deep expertise in at least one, and preferably multiple, database systems:
- Relational: PostgreSQL (must have), IBM DB2 (highly preferred), SQL Server (highly preferred), cockroachDB(nice to have)
- Proven experience with CI/CD tools and integrating database changes into automated pipelines.
- Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, PowerShell, Bash.
- Advanced Cloud Infrastructure automation and management, preferably using Ansible, Helm charts, Operators and Kubernetes
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and deploying databases in containerized environments.
- Experience implementing, managing, and supporting cloud (Azure) and hybrid database platforms
- Solid understanding of networking, distributed systems, and database concepts
Qualifications
Must-Haves
5+ years as a DBA or DRE
Deep PostgreSQL expertise (mandatory)
Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Experience with Kubernetes, containerization (Docker, OpenShift), and automated deployments
Understanding of networking, distributed systems, and core database principles
Strong Assets
DB2 experience (highly preferred, but not required)
Additional DB experience: SQL Server, Oracle, CockroachDB
CI/CD pipeline experience and integrating DB changes into automated workflows
Experience with Ansible, Helm charts, Operators, and cloud automation
Exposure to Azure or hybrid cloud database environments
