Responsibilities
Estimate Development: Create and maintain precise project cost estimates, including statements of work, labor-hour projections, and detailed narratives.
Stakeholder Liaison: Work hand-in-hand with Sales and Construction teams to define Work Scopes and ensure that budgets accurately reflect labor, material, and equipment costs.
Contractual Oversight: Manage the Change Order process in line with Management of Change (MoC) protocols to address scope creep and project delays.
Market Analysis: Analyze subcontractor bid submissions and vendor documents to verify accuracy and productivity factors.
Data Stewardship: Maintain a comprehensive database of historical costs and rates to enhance the precision of future project bids.
Gate Review Coordination: Facilitate the internal review process for cost estimates, gathering comments and securing necessary approvals before submission.
Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of dedicated experience in construction estimating is required.
Steel Expertise: Proven experience with steel structures is an absolute necessity for this role.
Technical Education: A post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred; an equivalent combination of trades background and experience will be considered.
Software Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of Construction Estimating Software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex construction drawings, contractual documents, and project schedules.
Character: Must fit the "Hungry, Humble, and Smart" profile, with a focus on quality over speed and the ability to work effectively in a versatile, "all-hands-on-deck" business model.
Readiness: Must be local to Edmonton and possess a valid passport with the ability to qualify for US entry for project-to-project requirements.
