We are seeking a motivated Process Operator / Apprentice Welder to join our production team. This role is a perfect "foot in the door" for someone looking to earn their 1st-year hours and build their Bluebook in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
...
This position operates between our Nisku and West Edmonton shop locations, providing variety and exposure to high-end processing machinery.
As a Process Operator, you are the engine of the shop.
You will be responsible for operating advanced metal processing equipment and ensuring the workspace remains efficient and safe.
While this is an apprentice welder role, please note that the initial focus is on machine operation, material processing, and shop support. In this specific career path, physical welding typically begins in your 3rd year of apprenticeship.
Advantages
Competitive Wage: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour (based on experience).
Work-Life Balance: Monday to Thursday shift (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM) – Enjoy 3-day weekends every week!
Reliable Pay: Weekly pay schedule processed through Randstad.
Career Growth: A clear path toward becoming a Journeyman Welder with hands-on experience on multi-million dollar processing equipment.
Responsibilities
Machine Operation: Set up and operate plasma cutters, water jets, and various other metal processing machines (full training provided).
Shop Maintenance: Perform general clean-up duties, including sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, and organizing inventory to maintain a safe work environment.
Versatility: Be a "jack of all trades"—jumping between tasks as needed to keep the shop moving and stay busy.
Logistics: Travel between the Nisku and West Edmonton shops based on production needs.
Documentation: Use computer systems to track jobs, read digital specifications, and log processing data.
Qualifications
Mechanically Inclined: You have a natural "knack" for how things work. A background in mechanics, automotive repair, or heavy machinery is highly preferred.
Computer Savvy: Comfortable using software to operate CNC-style machinery and managing digital workflows.
Apprenticeship Status: Registered 1st Year Welder (or eligible to register). This is a prime opportunity to build your Bluebook hours.
Reliability: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute between Nisku and West Edmonton.
Attitude: A "no task is too small" mindset. Whether you are operating a jet or holding a broom, you take pride in your work.
