Responsibilities
- Direct and guide a production team, including supervisors and front-line staff, to achieve key performance indicators related to safety, output, yield, and product quality.
- Develop, maintain, and ensure strict compliance with quality systems, including HACCP, GMPs, and Standard Operating Procedures, in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Actively champion a proactive safety culture, leading investigations into incidents, ensuring regulatory adherence to the Health and Safety Program, and supporting Return-to-Work (RTW) processes.
- Manage the departmental operating budget, performing detailed variance reporting and implementing necessary cost-control and efficiency improvements.
- Ensure all production activities meet or exceed compliance requirements set by various governmental bodies (e.g., Ministry of Environment, CFIA, Ministry of Labour).
- Engage in labor relations activities, including interpreting and administering the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), grievance resolution, and handling employee complaints.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-5 years of management experience overseeing production operations within a food manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity within a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), with a working knowledge of Bills C-45 and 168.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor teams effectively, fostering a high-performing and emotionally intelligent work environment.
- Proficiency in utilizing Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Exceptional organizational skills, including strong analytical and time management abilities, with advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prior experience working within a unionized environment is strongly preferred for this Production Manager opportunity.
- Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check
