Responsibilities
Production
-Manage silo-to-silo production including process monitoring and troubleshooting
-Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to plan and meet production targets
-Measure and report KPIs
-Prioritize most important tasks as they relate to company goals
-Develop and maintain production SOPs and standards
-Understand company financial performance and how my work effects that performance
-Adopt Operational Excellence practices to manage continuous improvement
-Develop systems for process monitoring to facilitate troubleshooting and flagging process deviations
-Identify opportunities to improve processes and performance
-Create business cases for capital and maintenance projects
-Plan and execute shutdown activities as they relate to the production department
-Manage equipment inspections and communication of maintenance issues to the maintenance department
-Drive quality by adherence to internal and external standards
-Identify opportunities to improve quality and product safety
-Work with internal and customer quality managers
-Champion operator engagement and culture by empowering operators and maintenance to take ownership of their processes and responsibilities
-Management and development of direct reports (operators, trades, supervisors, engineers, contractors) where required
Projects, Engineering & Regulatory (In conjunction with Engineering Dept.)
-Identify capital and maintenance projects where necessary
-Work with regulators to ensure compliance with local jurisdiction (e.g. WorkSafe BC and TSBC)
-Build relationships with regulators and inspectors
Risk
-Continual management of operational risks
-Identify and characterize threats
- Prioritize risk reduction measures
Business
-Understand variable and fixed costs related to production activities
-Understand revenue sources, company financial performance
Budget Management
-Create and manage production operating budgets
-Manage execution of budgeted activities
Environment, Safety and Sustainability
-Improve water/power/gas consumption performance
-Improve waste water and air emission performance
-Manage the safety program for the production department
-Develop and manage permit systems
Qualifications
-Engineering Degree
-Professional Engineer Status considered an asset
-At least 5 years’ experience in process industry
-At least two (2) years management experience
-Knowledge of extraction and adsorption processes would be a benefit
