I am supporting a premier Canadian constructor and seeking a Project Accountant ready to take full ownership of project financials within the power generation, manufacturing, and utility sectors. This is a role for a finance professional who understands that construction accounting is as much about operational collaboration as it is about the bottom line.

Responsibilities
- Specialized Financial Management: Lead the full project lifecycle, from complex setup and budget maintenance to final close-out.
- Operational Partnership: Act as the primary financial liaison for Project Managers, providing the data-driven insights necessary to manage job performance in monthly review meetings.
- Advanced Job Costing: Conduct deep-dive variance analysis and provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risk and improve profitability.
- Full-Cycle Project Support: Manage job-specific billing, AR collections, and the accurate allocation of labor and departmental costs.
- Corporate Reporting: Support month-end closes and GL reconciliations, ensuring all files are audit-ready and compliant with ASPE/IFRS standards.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of dedicated accounting experience, with a strong preference for those coming directly from the Construction or Heavy Industry sectors.
- Education & Designation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. A CPA designation (or being in the final stages of the program) is highly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills are essential for job cost accruals and reporting. Familiarity with construction accounting software is an asset.
- Communication: The ability to move between technical accounting and clear, concise communication with on-site project teams.
