Pay Rate: $22.00 - $24.00 CAD per hour, based on experience and shift.
Job Type: Full-time, long-term contract. Initial will be of 3 months (specifics discussed during interview).
Location: Guelph, Ontario (accessible by public transit).
Shifts: Available for various shifts (Days, Afternoons, or Nights), which may include rotational shifts.
Responsibilities
Safe Forklift Operation: Safely and efficiently operate a propane-powered counterbalance forklift (towmotor) to move, load, unload, and stack raw materials, finished goods, and production components within the warehouse and manufacturing facility.
Material Handling: Transport materials to designated storage areas, shipping/receiving docks, or directly supply production lines in a just-in-time environment.
Loading/Unloading: Load and unload trailers and internal transport vehicles, ensuring all materials are properly secured and handled to prevent damage.
Propane Tank Management: Safely perform routine checks, replacements, and refilling of propane tanks for the forklift equipment.
Inventory & Documentation: Accurately use scanners or a Warehouse Management System (WMS) for inventory tracking, and complete all required logs, inspection reports, and documentation for material movement.
Safety & Maintenance: Conduct daily pre-shift safety inspections on the forklift, report any maintenance issues immediately, and strictly adhere to all company and provincial safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, Ministry of Labour) and required PPE.
General Duties: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, assist with general housekeeping, cycle counts, and other material handling duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid Forklift License: Must possess a current, external, and valid Forklift Operator Certification (for counterbalance/towmotor).
Propane Forklift Experience: Minimum of 6 - 12 months of recent, hands-on experience operating propane-powered forklifts in a manufacturing or busy warehouse setting.
Total Forklift Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of overall recent forklift driving experience.
Physical Ability: Must be able to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
Safety Focus: Strong commitment to workplace safety and a proven record of following safety protocols.
Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills in English to complete documentation and work collaboratively with the team.
