Responsibilities
1.Conduct audits to ensure compliance with quality standards: such as LPA, quality alerts, procedural auditing and quality containments
a.Ensure parts are correctly racked by work instructions to avoid surface defects.
b.Verify orientation and spacing of parts on racks for optimal E-Coat thickness.
c.Inspect parts at un-racking stations for visual defects such as poor contact, pinholes, runs, sags, and contamination etc.
d.Ensure gentle handling during un-racking to prevent physical damage or chipping of the coating.
e.Perform in-process inspections according to control plan and visual criteria.
f.Report any improper handling of parts observed on the floor.
g.Ensure bins and racks are clean and free of excess paint build up to prevent cross-contamination.
2.Ability to have disposition according to quality standards implemented by the plant quality department – nothing goes out from the plant without authorized approval process.
a.Follow proper disposition procedures for coated rejected parts.
3.Ability to connect quality issues and root cause effect analysis
4.Ability to create and analyze data such as: pareto, cost of quality
5.Participate in and monitor new program launches at early phase until PPAP’d
6.Manage quarantine area
7.Monitor production processes and identify areas for improvement
a.Monitor and record defect types and trends and escalate issues that require containment or corrective action.
b.Confirm bin labeling, traceability tags, and part counts are accurate and complete.
c.Support segregation of nonconforming material and initiate hold tags as needed.
d.Complete inspection logs, checklists, and records accurately and on time.
e.Ensure all quality documents are controlled, legible, and filed according to QMS procedures.
f.Communicate with operators to ensure understanding of quality alerts and process changes.
8.Train employees in quality procedures and best practices
9.Investigate customer and internal product quality issues and implement corrective actions
10.Develop control plans, inspection instructions, and support documentation
11.Ensure product quality by reducing defects and improving efficiency
12.Report quality issues through formal nonconformance reports (DMR’s) or deviation notices.
13.Provide feedback to supervisors and operators on recurring defects or training needs.
14.Others:
a.Participate in 5S activities and visual control implementation at inspection stations.
b.Demonstrate a commitment to the core values and principles of organization.
c.Demonstrate a commitment to the quality of product and service that equates or exceeds the standards of organization.
d.Demonstrate and uphold the Health & Safety policies and procedures of the organization.
e.Attend and participate in all required training such as but not limited to WHMIS, Health and Safety.
f.Maintain department safety (including housekeeping), quality, and productivity to meet daily goals
g.Basic understanding of plating finishes and codes and effect of chemistries on metal finishes
h.Report on Spills
i.Report damaged to equipment or warehouse.
j.Execute work orders as given
k.Perform analysis of raw material, in-process and finished products, de-ionized, and soft water and stability samples using analytical instruments and established analytical procedures and techniques as scheduled and by set deadlines.
l.Examine the sample provided and write/advise any discrepancy on test and field reports
m.Performs tests and calculations, compiles data and summarizes test results into test reports and checklists / logs. Verifies calculations are consistent with results of measurements. Determines whether the product passes or fails subject to review by QC Supervisor.
n.Interpret and document all test results, calculations and observations and completes report summaries, as per analytical and techniques.
o.Work as an effective team member to meet departmental goals, sharing knowledge with team members.
p.Perform general maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, according to the Lab’s established calibration program.
q.Maintain compliance with all health and safety standards and regulatory requirements including but not limited to Lock-out/Tag-out, Confined Space entry, use and care of fall arrest equipment, handling/storage of drums and spill management.
r.Responsible and accountable for compliance with all aspects of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as Health and Safety policies.
s.Provides technical troubleshooting support or training to other team members where appropriate.
t.Initiate changes for test procedures and testing specifications.
u.Perform, record, and manage QC results for incoming raw materials and finished goods.
v.Keep instruments running at their optimum performance through proactive preventive maintenance
w.Use Personal Protective Equipment:
x.Safety Glasses or Prescription Glasses (shatter proof)
•Safety boots
•Safety vest
•Safety ear plugs
Qualifications
1.Minimum 3 years' experience in manufacturing quality control, preferably in automotive or industrial production environments
2.Strong auditing skills, including ISO 9001:2015 compliance and process audits
3.Familiar with project management and new product introduction experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
4.Ability to lead and collaborate in a cross-functional team to solve problems and implement corrective actions
5.Knowledge of manufacturing principles and quality control processes
6.Effective written & verbal communication skills
7.Education in Chemistry and/or experience in chemical analysis is an asset but not mandatory
8.Calibration and basic maintenance of laboratory test equipment is an asset but not mandatory.
9.Able to work in warm to hot, humid environment where chemicals are used for coating / plating of parts.
10.Able to interpret work instructions for chemical analysis and calibration.
11.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) for data tracking and reporting
