Responsibilities
Oversee internal quality systems through direct observation, statistical evaluation, and problem-solving methods to identify priority areas for improvement.
Support or lead Focus Cell initiatives to address quality concerns using data analysis tools and a structured, methodical approach to drive improvement.
Respond promptly to both internal and external customer concerns, acting as the liaison between the customer and departments such as Production, Maintenance, and Quality.
Coordinate efforts with the Quality Lab, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure customer requests are addressed in order of priority and root causes are identified.
Ensure effective corrective actions are implemented, and follow-up audits are conducted to prevent recurrence of issues.
Monitor internal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify and pursue improvement opportunities across safety, quality, Hoshin, and Kaizen initiatives.
Apply engineering principles and data-driven analysis to target areas for continuous improvement activities.
Manage continuous improvement goals within the Quality department, including scope, budget, and scheduling to ensure timelines are met.
Assist Production Engineering in developing process plans for newly awarded parts, ensuring requirements meet customer expectations through tools such as PFMEA and MQC.
Collaborate with check fixture manufacturers on design concepts and provide approval for new or modified fixtures.
Create timelines and budget estimates to define delivery dates for new or modified check fixtures.
Lead Model Launch Teams as needed to meet project objectives, including secondary inspections, part quality tracking, and improvement planning.
Develop customer-facing documentation in accordance with QIMS system requirements and ensure deadlines are met.
Provide detailed updates to internal teams regarding customer events and share representative feedback.
Confirm availability and proper maintenance of all required tools for new product launches.
Assess whether updates are needed for existing check fixtures and testing equipment based on process or engineering changes (ECIs).
Manage ECI-related changes from the initial request through to implementation at the customer site, including relevant documentation such as schedules, VTS, SDS data, and SOP dates.
Ensure all quality control procedures are followed through hands-on support and supervision of the Quality team.
Direct co-op students and manage task prioritization within the Quality Engineering department.
Demonstrate awareness of the organization’s Environmental Policy and actively participate in initiatives that support environmental performance. Report any potential non-conformances.
Understand the environmental impacts of your work activities and follow all instructions to maintain compliance and positive performance.
Be knowledgeable about the Emergency Preparedness Response Plan (EPRP).
Qualifications
Must possess a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) designation.
Over 8 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is highly preferred (experience within Japanese manufacturing systems is an asset).
Self-motivated, proactive individual with a strong drive to improve systems and processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Willingness to support overtime work as needed.
