Regional Safety Manager- US Central & East Regions- This position can be based in Missouri, Wisconsin, Alabama or North Carolina. It requires frequent traveling (50%) by plane to our 13 plants located in United States Central, South and East area. The plants are in the states of: Missouri, Iowa, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina (3), New-York (2), Virginia, New-Jersey, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
Under the leadership of the Vice President of Occupational Safety, you’ll play a key role in shaping and driving Cascades’ strategic plan for risk reduction and control across all sites. Your mission: implement a high-impact Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system that helps eliminate injuries and fosters a culture of safety for employees and contractors.
As a strategic advisor to the management teams of our two business sectors, you’will guide decision-making and champion best practices in OHS. With your team of approximately 10 OHS coordinators, you’ll act as both a technical expert and a change agent, ensuring the successful rollout of our standardized OHS action plan.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Co-developing Cascades’ strategic OHS plan with corporate and operational leaders
- Leading the deployment of OHS practices, tools, and processes across your business region
- Defining and analyzing leading safety indicators to track performance and trends
- Staying ahead of industry best practices and recommending improvements
- Coaching and empowering management teams in their OHS approach
- Mobilizing and developing your team to drive proactive risk control strategies
- Acting as a trusted expert and resource in all matters related to occupational safety

- Have a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar corporate role in heavy industry, pulp and paper or manufacturing.
- Proven experience in implementing management systems, conducting audits, analyzing data, and coaching safety coordinators.
- Excellent communication skills, tact, managerial courage, and strong political acumen.
- Ability to translate complex issues into practical solutions.
- Strong collaborative skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
- Capability to assist team members in achieving their goals.
- Proficiency in supporting and advising business partners on occupational health and safety matters.
- Expertise in managing large-scale change and understanding its impact across all organizational levels and stakeholders.
- Agility in using various technological tools (Office, ERP, ConformiT, Microsoft 365 , etc.).
