Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Reporting: Direct overall financial management; develop and implement accounting systems to facilitate reporting within legislative requirements (MSDSB).
Budget Leadership: Lead the preparation and submission of Board and Provincial budgets, ensuring timely compliance with all regulatory policies.
Risk & Asset Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive asset management plans and internal control systems to safeguard organizational assets.
Operational Partnership: Advise program Directors and Managers on financial matters, monitoring funding and developing corrective action plans when necessary.
Regulatory Compliance: Facilitate all provincial reporting, year-end reconciliations, and quarterly forecasts; ensure successful audits through documented controls.
Levy Administration: Calculate and set the Municipal Levy in accordance with Board Policy.
Divisional Oversight: Provide strategic direction for the IT department and coordinate HR functions to ensure organizational alignment.
Qualifications
Professional Designation: A University degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is required. A CPA designation (CA, CGA, or CMA) is highly preferred.
Experience: Extensive experience in a senior financial leadership role, ideally within the public sector, broader public sector (BPS), or a non-profit environment.
Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of provincial funding models, municipal levy processes, and public sector accounting standards.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and influence senior-level decision-making.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of financial software, ERP systems, and internal control frameworks.
