They're helping the world see better by making high quality lenses for glasses.An Optical Lab Technician, is an eye wear specialist whose job it is to make prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses. While many steps in the production process have been automated, there are some tasks that still require the expertise of a technician.If you have an Optical Lab Technician background and are a person who is detail orientated, consistently exceeds expectations and is process oriented; we want to meet with you! We are currently looking for an experienced Optical Technician with light machine operation experience and an interest in production/manufacturing, to work for a reputable organization in Lethbridge. The successful candidate will be hired permanent as of day one. Direct industry experience is considered an asset but not required. Advantages• Part Time Permanent Employment. • Competitive pay starting at $15/hr- $20/hr, based on experience• Accessible location on Lethbridge Transit route• Positive working environment with a friendly teamResponsibilitiesProduce quality eyewear through utilizing the Quality guidelines:• Prepare and surface lenses according to job specifications on RXU work ticket• Inspect uncut lenses against cosmetic and optical standards• Tracing a frame/pattern, as well as reprocess order, attaching pattern and verifying all information• Edge lenses into frames, with proper bevel placement, groove position and sizing.• Tinting and UV coating to patient specifications• Drilling- creating and saving formulas, proper drill assembly for plug and screw mount• Safety monogramming and mounting.• Final Inspect uncut lenses and edged/assembled eyewear against CHIQS standards and tolerances and withina timely manner. • Responsible for basic operation, cleaning and ongoing maintenance of laboratory tools and equipment usingestablished maintenance procedures and calendars. • Technician will be placed on a schedule to complete the certification program. • Technicians will be expected to perform within local KPI expectations.Qualifications• Optical background (considered an asset)• Technically inclined/ machinery experience• Strives to improve technical knowledge daily and continually applies that knowledge in the production of alleye-wear.• Utilizes product knowledge to determine the best manufacturing process for routine and special orders inorder to produce top quality eye-wear.• Performs multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and thoroughness despite time pressures andcustomer volume.• Keen attention to detail with all measurements, calculations, equipment settings and defective product.• Takes the initiative to notice and follow-up on discrepancies; suggests improvements; recommends solutionsand does what is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.• Occasional lifting/ carrying 10 lbs or less, pushing/ pulling 30 lbs or less.• High School Graduate /GED or equivalent experienceSummaryIf you have the skills/qualifications detailed above, send your updated resume directly to patricio.gutierrez@randstad.ca AND samantha.raesperle@randstad.ca.
