As an SAP Functional Consultant - FICO, you will bridge the gap between finance business process leads, project management offices, technical developers, and third-party systems integrators. Operating in Toronto, you will validate system designs against leading industry practices, configure SAP S/4HANA financial modules, support Electronic Bank Statement (EBS) processes, and translate complex financial policies into robust functional specifications. Responsibilities
Validate proposed functional designs and solution architecture with systems integrators to ensure alignment with standard SAP leading practices.
Perform hands-on configuration in SAP S/4HANA across Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), Asset Accounting, Accounts Payable, Funds Management (FM), and Project Systems (PS).
Support, optimize, and maintain the Electronic Bank Statement (EBS) processes and related banking integrations.
Partner with the Project Management Office (PMO) to prioritize, configure, and deploy deferred functional requirements and post-implementation enhancements.
Author comprehensive functional specifications for development objects (reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows - RICEFW).
Triage support tickets, perform root-cause analysis on functional defects, and drive issue resolution through system testing.
Develop, review, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts across unit, functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Collaborate with business process owners to review and update business process documentation, standard operating procedures, and financial policies.
Support the implementation of automated workflow approvals based on organizational delegation of commitment authorities.
Analyze end-to-end financial workflows to identify optimization opportunities leveraging standard out-of-the-box SAP functionality.
Develop training materials, communications, and knowledge transfer documentation to support operational sustainment.
Qualifications
Core Technical & SAP Consulting Requirements
SAP FICO Certification: Formal SAP FI-CO certification is required.
S/4HANA Configuration Expertise: Proven hands-on configuration expertise across SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), Asset Accounting, Accounts Payable, Project Systems (PS), and Funds Management (FM).
Implementation Experience: Successfully delivered at least two (2) full-lifecycle, end-to-end SAP implementations as a functional consultant (prior S/4HANA implementation experience in a public sector environment is an asset).
Enterprise Delivery Tenure: Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in large project/program environments within public sector jurisdictions or large private sector organizations.
Electronic Bank Statement (EBS): Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting and configuring SAP Electronic Bank Statement processes.
Project Methodologies: Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies, including SAP Activate, Agile, Waterfall, and PMBOK frameworks (PMP certification is an asset).
Preferred Assets & Framework Knowledge
Change Management Tooling: Working knowledge of SAP Solution Manager for change request tracking and transport management.
Testing Rigor: In-depth knowledge of structured testing methodologies, test data management, and defect tracking.
Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
