As a senior technical leader within the team, you will collaborate closely with Software Engineers, UX/UI designers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-performing, engaging, and seamless customer experiences. This role requires an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for automation, and the ability to confidently guide agile teams through complex, ambiguous situations.
Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid - 4 days/week in-office)
Contract Duration: 6 months (with a high likelihood of extension)

Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Planning: Plan comprehensive test schedules, strategies, and quality principles in accordance with project scope and delivery dates under minimal supervision.
Automation Leadership: Design scalable automated test solutions, participate in automation script code reviews, and provide hands-on programming guidance using modern test frameworks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional product and engineering teams to understand objectives, gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver powerful customer experiences.
Agile Team Support: Identify gaps within the agile team regarding skills and resources, managing task delegation, dependency identification, and test data/environment utilization.
Metrics & Reporting: Develop, monitor, and report on test metrics, providing clear and timely risk assessments and performance communication to key stakeholders.
Mentorship & Training: Devise and execute training initiatives to elevate technical skills within the team, fostering continuous innovation and technical growth.
Innovation & Research: Continuously research, identify, and implement modern testing technologies and AI tools to optimize testing environments and workflows.
Qualifications
Technical Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
QA/Development Experience: 8+ years of proven experience across QA engineering and/or software development.
Automation Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on experience utilizing automation tools like Playwright or Cypress, with the comfort level to program and script as needed.
POS Domain Knowledge: 2+ years of experience working with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems; Oracle Xstore experience is highly valued.
CI/CD & Tooling: Strong understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts, alongside demonstrated experience using GitHub and JIRA.
Modern Tooling: Familiarity with leveraging AI acceleration tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to optimize task delivery.
Leadership & Professional Skills
Risk & Problem Solving: Proven track record of assessing risk to determine testing depth, isolating complex problems logically, and managing ambiguous technical situations effectively.
Communication & Presentation: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to share technical testing topics with both internal peer groups and broader organizational stakeholders.
Project Management: Strong estimating, planning, and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
