Responsibilities
- Perform month-end close activities, ensuring timely completion of reconciliations and supporting working papers
- Review working papers prepared by junior accounting staff
- Assist in improving and streamlining the month-end close process
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and smooth operational workflows
- Review bill postings to ensure accurate coding and proper accounting treatment
- Review and approve employee reimbursement claims and escalate out-of-policy expenses when required
- Support improvements to the AP platform and related processes
- Collaborate with the accounting team to prepare and review various tax filings
- Prepare supporting information required for annual tax returns and tax credit claims
- Ensure tax remittances and filings are completed accurately and on time
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow under US GAAP
- Prepare and review schedules supporting financial statement disclosures
- Research and prepare accounting memos related to technical accounting matters under US GAAP
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff
- Support ad hoc accounting projects and operational initiatives as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with NetSuite considered an asset
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to take ownership of tasks
