Responsibilities
• Own full-cycle accounting operations, including monthly general ledger close, journal entries, accruals, fixed assets, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare complete monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow analyses, and executive management variance reports.
• Lead manufacturing inventory accounting, tracking raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, scrap, and physical count reconciliations.
• Verify product costing accuracy against supplier invoices, incorporating direct labor, freight, overhead, customs, and surcharges.
• Perform monthly margin analysis by product line and customer, identifying margin leakage and calculating sales commission metrics.
• Oversee day-to-day accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) activities executed by administrative and bookkeeping staff.
• Supervise weekly payroll processing, employee benefits administration, and ensure accurate statutory filings (HST, CRA source deductions, EHT, WSIB).
• Prepare lender compliance packages, track financial covenant headroom, and support audit-ready recordkeeping for government contribution agreements.
• Manage customs compliance documentation, including CARM accounts, duty-relief filings, and cross-border commercial invoice requirements.
• Maintain rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts, set up electronic funds transfers (EFT/wires), and monitor foreign exchange balances.
• Prepare comprehensive year-end working paper files and collaborate directly with external accounting firms during annual tax filings.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Demonstrated experience owning the month-end close process and independently preparing financial statements.
• Direct hands-on experience in manufacturing inventory valuation, cost accounting, and statutory government remittances (CRA, HST, EHT, WSIB).
• Must be able to work full-time on-site in Brantford, Ontario (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
• Experience with Canada-US customs documentation, SR&ED claims, or owner-managed corporate environments is considered a strong asset.
