Responsibilities
•Define the specific list of business and process analysis deliverables that covers the scope of the project, identifying the stakeholders who will be part of the creation and validation of each deliverable with Project Manager.
•Estimate and plan work independently with key stakeholder and project team.
•Drive strong stakeholder engagement with relationship building.
•Independently lead across campus process analysis and work with key stakeholders to provides business process re-engineering to support the CMS with standardized methodologies.
•Documenting and/or updating current state business processes and Standard Operating Procedures (manual and system) for administration, departments and faculties.
•Complete current and future state time in motion studies on core business process activities to determine measurable benefits.
•Partner with key stakeholders to document business problems and identify process improvements that will create capacity and economies of scale
•Build out future state processes and standard operating procedures for administration, departments and faculties.
•Eliciting, gathering, verifying, validating and prioritizing business requirements with project partners, using future state processes.
•Identifying opportunities to streamline, automate and scale existing operations/services/systems to enable greater efficiency and effectiveness across project partners
•Assess stakeholder impacts brought about by changes or new business processes.
•Implementing change management strategies to support project partners navigate change.
•Maintaining a systems thinking approach considering broader impacts and institutional objectives in mind.
•Facilitate UAlberta’s multistage Request for Proposal process with campus partners with the objective of finding the solution(s) that meet future state processes
•Work closely with project team members for prototyping, translating business processes, requirements to technical business rules and workflow.
•Facilitate design workshops and lead the implementation efforts for new CMS solution(s)
•Act as the liaison between business and technology staff, providing the business perspective in the analysis and design of future state solutions
•Creation of sustainment measuring and metrics, to ensure processes are working as intended or changes are documented for future implementation The Business Analyst will be accountable to the Project Manager for all
work and deliverables assigned.
Qualifications
•Leads business units through the development of business cases and obtains approval of senior management to proceed through gated portfolio process.
•Works with business analysts, project managers and business managers to ensure the benefits defined in the business case and subsequent benefit delivery plans are realized, using baseline models and performance statistics.
•Leads cross-functional business process re-engineering teams and continuous improvement efforts.
•Documents business processes using relevant modeling techniques such as Use Case, Swim lane, Activity, Business Process Modeling Diagram, and Data Flow Diagram.
•Analyzes processes to recommend fundamental process improvements to management which exploit technology components, eliminate redundant tasks, and/or minimize duplication of effort.
•Responsible for the creation of an accurate business requirements document and obtaining stakeholder and senior management's approval.
•Defines the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategy for projects; Leads the UAT associated with projects; Leads the development of UAT test cases.
•Develops or supports the development of training material.
