Responsibilities
BI Modeling & Design: Convert complex user requirements into robust business models using Framework Manager, Transformer, Dynamic Cube Designer, and Data Modules.
Cloud Reporting: Develop and deploy advanced reports and dashboards in Cognos Analytics v12.x hosted on AWS and IBM Cloud Pak for Data.
Data Architecture: Design and develop Data Marts and Data Warehouses across relational and multi-dimensional repositories; implement point-in-time architecture for historical reporting.
Backend Development: Write and optimize complex SQL and PL/SQL procedures to handle intricate business logic and ensure optimal report performance.
Security & Governance: Build security models for BI implementations, including the creation of metadata, user groups, and organized folder structures.
Testing & Quality: Lead testing activities using Life Cycle Manager, document test cases, and perform deep-dive debugging of standard reports.
Knowledge Transfer: Conduct demos on self-serve BI for SMEs and provide detailed technical documentation to internal staff.
Environment Migration: Support Cognos migration activities, including the re-engineering of embedded JavaScript and SQL within legacy reports.
Qualifications
Expert Cognos Skills: 5+ years of experience in Cognos Analytics reporting and modeling (Framework Manager, SDK, Transformer, Dynamic Cube Designer).
Cloud Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on experience with AWS Cloud technologies, specifically AWS Redshift.
Database Mastery: In-depth knowledge of relational databases, including advanced SQL tuning and database-specific programming (PL/SQL or T-SQL).
Modeling Tools: Experience using Power Designer to design logical and physical models and generate scripts.
Methodologies: Proficient in both Agile/Scrum (JIRA/Confluence) and Waterfall environments.
Soft Skills: Strong critical thinking and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical implications to senior management and stakeholders.
