We are seeking an experienced Buyer for an established client of ours in the Mining sector. This position would be based out of our clients Vancouver office. The Senior Buyer manages day-to-day purchasing activities for assigned requirements. This includes obtaining quotations, placing purchase orders, following up suppliers, reviewing logistics needs, and helping ensure materials arrive at site hen required. Responsibilities
o Obtain quotations, compare offers, negotiate as required and support supplier selection.
o Actively generate and maintain purchase orders in the company ERP system, ensuring scope, pricing, delivery requirements and approvals are clear.
o Keep procurement records current and support purchase order changes and close-out. Expediting & Supplier Follow-up
o Follow up purchase orders from award through delivery, track supplier commitments and address delays or issues early.
o Maintain clear procurement and expediting status and provide practical updates to the team.
o Review logistics requirements for each order, including delivery location, freight responsibility, shipment size and weight, unloading and any special handling needs.
o Support the Logistics liaison with site, warehouse, suppliers and carriers to help ensure timely and risk-managed delivery of materials to the site.
o Ensure packing lists and other required shipping information are available before material moves.
o Work with project, engineering, site, warehouse, logistics and finance teams to align priorities and resolve purchasing or delivery issues.
o Help resolve invoice discrepancies and complete purchase order close-out after final
Qualifications
o Relevant post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
o Procurement or buying experience, ideally in mining, construction, industrial or capital-project environments.
o Practical experience issuing purchase orders and following supplier orders through to delivery.
o Comfortable working with suppliers, discussing commercial terms and coordinating changing priorities.
o Good organization, communication and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; ERP (Pronto and SAP) or procurement-system experience is helpful.
o Self-motivated, practical and able to work well with both office and site teams.
o Valid driver's license.
