Responsibilities
- Design, create, and maintain cloud-based data lake and lakehouse structures following the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Lead the migration of legacy pipelines from Azure Synapse and ADF (including stored procedures and views) to native Databricks orchestration leveraging Delta Lake.
- Code and implement automated data pipelines and analytics models using Python and SQL.
- Support the creation of reusable frameworks and standards to streamline pipeline creation across the organization.
- Enforce development standards through code reviews in GitHub and leverage tools like Databricks Unity Catalog for robust data governance.
- Liaise with IT colleagues to resolve operational problems and support business partners in the effective use of analytics products.
- Prepare technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions to promote team sharing and maintain high code quality.
Qualifications
- Azure Expertise (5+ Years): Extensive experience in a Microsoft Azure environment using ADLS, Synapse, and Azure Storage.
- Data Engineering (5+ Years): Proven experience building and orchestrating pipelines with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Databricks.
- High proficiency in Python and SQL for complex data engineering and analytics tasks.
- Strong background in Agile team environments and CI/CD practices for automating data solution deployments.
- Familiarity with Unity Catalog and the Delta Lake format.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills; ability to identify alternatives and recommend solutions for multi-component failures.
